Johannes & Dorothea von Moltke
The following description comes from the event organizer.
Our friends and neighbors at Goethe Popup Seattle present this program devoted to the recent English language publication of Last Letters: The Prison Correspondence, 1944-45 (New York Review of Books Classics). These are letters between imprisoned Nazi resistance leader Helmuth James von Moltke, who would be executed in January 1945 and his wife Freya von Moltke, smuggled between them by the prison chaplain. This book is edited by their son, retired lawyer Helmuth Caspar von Moltke; their granddaughter, bookseller Dorothea von Moltke, and their grandson, professor Johannes von Moltke, translated by Shelley Frisch, and with an afterword by Rachel Seiffert. It is expected that it will be Dorothea von Moltke and Johannes von Moltke that will present this program.
