While the bookstore in its Capitol Hill neighborhood is busy helping celebrate the return of the CAPITOL HILL BLOCK PARTY this weekend, we somewhat more quietly are still doing programs away from the music. One is this virtual program with Manchester, England-based Caribbean writer Monique Roffey with her more-than-captivating novel, The Mermaid of Black Conch (Knopf). Originally from Trinidad, Monique Roffey draws strongly on her island roots for this Costa Book Prize-winning novel of a mythical sea being and the young man who falls in love with her.
