Current cognitive science suggests that "literary transportation" is a real phenomenon that can impact our heart rate and breathing, but disappearing into a good book might also transform our opinions and viewpoints. Could the creative flow of a regular writing practice have similar effects? Debuting her memoir Poetry's Possible Worlds, poet and professor Lesley Wheeler will lead a reading and discussion on poetry's power alongside Washington State Poet Laureate Rena Priest, Jeannine Hall Gailey, Mita Mahato, and Martha Silano.
