In 2017, Preet Bharara defied Attorney General Jeff Sessions's request for all Obama-era-appointed district attorneys to resign and was subsequently fired. Before that, he was best known for prosecuting significant corruption cases and financial crimes, as well as cases involving gang violence, arms trafficking, and civil rights violations.
