"The optical printer is a machine that allows filmmakers to re-photograph their films and change them in a number of ways, including changing the timing, cropping the image, blowing up the image (from Super-8 to 16mm, from 16mm to 35mm, etc), double-exposing or bi-packing the image. As filmmakers ourselves, we have used the optical printer extensively in our own practices. Interbay Cinema Society is thrilled to present this sampling of optically-printed 16mm films from the Canyon collection. (Curators Jon Behrens & Caryn Cline)" (Promo Copy)
