Safe and Sound: A Conversation with Seattle Police Chief Adrian Diaz and Community Leaders on Public Safety
The following description comes from the event organizer.
Civic Cocktail offers a lively look at big events and important issues facing the Puget Sound region.
What does it mean to be safe in Seattle? How can we create a safer community? For this edition of Civic Cocktail, host Mónica Guzmán will attempt to answer these questions, first by speaking with leaders from two community-focused nonprofits, Sean Goode, Executive Director of Choose180, which works with youth to realize their full potential and avoid the school to prison pipeline, and Esther Lucero, President and CEO of the Seattle Indian Health Board, a community health center specializing in the care of Native people. They will offer their unique insights about what public safety means to them and their vision for a safer Seattle. Then Seattle Police Department’s Chief Diaz will discuss the ways law enforcement is addressing safety concerns and what efforts it has made in the past few years to improve its response.
