I'm ashamed to admit that I used to drop Sheryl Crow's name as a punchline, taking jabs at her appearance on the Cars soundtrack and collaborations with certified menace Kid Rock. Now that I am older and wiser, I find myself listening to radio hits like "All I Wanna Do" and "If It Makes You Happy" in earnest. I have even discovered some of her deeper cuts ("Weather Channel" is my current favorite) that sit on playlists alongside respected Americana queens Lucinda Williams and Gillian Welch.
