Shigeto’s beat-driven electronic tracks are both energetic and chill, but it’s even more incredible to watch how they play out onstage. Instead of being the mysterious DJ behind a tower of speakers and laptop screens, Shigeto composes his music live. The result is an electro set that feels organic, and that you can watch unfurl before you. The Detroit producer/drummer’s work has shades of IDM, jazz, hip-hop, and ambient music, but it also transcends all those boxy descriptions.
