The following description comes from the event organizer.

Forty years ago, Spectrum Dance Theater was born out of a love and dedication to dance by its talented founders who welcomed the Madrona community to its unique lake-side property to experience the art of dance. Throughout the decades, Spectrum Dance Theater continued to evolve while remaining a consistent pillar in the larger Seattle community providing space for artistic expression and exploration.

Ready to take the organization to new heights, Mr. Byrd stepped into his role as Artistic Director and spent the next twenty years utilizing his vast experiences in the arts to expand on the original vision of its founders. Thanks to Mr. Byrd and the leadership at the organization, Spectrum Dance Theater has dutifully committed to making dance accessible to all, cultivating a world-class professional company, building a strong school curriculum, and various community engagement programs.
