"We take advantage of a Seattle and U.S. visit from Kolkata by esteemed editor, book designer, artist, and translator Sunandini Banerjee in having her here this evening. Most known for her longstanding work in several roles at award-winning SEAGULL BOOKS, one of the foremost English language literary publishing houses on the planet, with a particular devotion to bringing translated work from languages all over the world, Sunandini Banerjee is great at discussing her art and craft, as well as doing that work. This conversation with Seattle-based publisher, editor, author, and curator Michelle Dunn Marsh, should be one that makes the world, book and otherwise, seem both small and vast. Sunandini Banerjee’s book covers and collage art have been the subject of numerous exhibitions around the world, and the annual book catalogs she designs for Seagull are the talk of Frankfurt’s global international book fair. She is also the credited translator from the Bengali of Nabarun Bhattacharya’s 1994 novel, Harbart (New Directions)." (Promo Copy)
