The following description comes from the event organizer.
This Saturday virtual program, taking place in early afternoon Seattle time, brings together two translators of recently published Japanese novels. Seattle-based, Takami Nieda, who teaches around the corner from Elliott Bay at Seattle Central College, has translated popular Korean Japanese writer Chesil’s The Color of the Sky is the Shape of the Heart (Soho Press). And, from the UK, we believe for this, there is Arthur Reiji Morris, who has translated Li Kotomi’s Solo Dance (World Editions). The Color of the Sky is the Shape of the Heart is a debut novel that is said to have broken literary ground in Japan in its depiction of diaspora, prejudice, and coming-of-age of a teen girl growing up as a Zainichi Korean.
