The following description comes from the event organizer.

Join us for a discussion between Robert Jackson, Ben Alper, Ross Mantle and Edith Fikes about the creation of Proof, published by Sleeper Studio last fall. The book presents proof photographs from Jackson’s collection alongside fictional responses by Fikes. Collectively, the images and texts explore the negotiation of the photographic act itself, the performance of identity and vanity and the deep vulnerability that is often laid bare in the process.  The talk will cover Robert’s relationship to vernacular photography and his role as collector, as well as the collaborative studio practice that generated the writing, edit, sequence and design of the book. This panel discussion is presented by Photographic Center Northwest (PCNW); Portraits and Identity: Photographs from the Collection of Robert E. Jackson is on view at PCNW through December 9, 2021.
