Vocal Group Hall of Famers the Manhattan Transfer remain a jazz and pop cornerstone band. The first group to win Grammy Awards in both pop and jazz categories in the same year, they went on to receive an additional 12 Grammy nominations for their album Vocalese in 1985, which made it second only to Michael Jackson’s Thriller as most nominated album in one year, and cemented the group’s status as an essential and innovative vocal group in popular music history.
