During his 1960s and ’70s peak, Motown superstar Stevie Wonder infused soul, R&B, and funk with melodic, harmonic, and rhythmic complexities while still appealing to millions, filling dance floors, and enhancing romantic scenarios. The world has been basking in his audacious innovations—aided by the synthesizer/production wizardry of Tonto's Expanding Head Band members Robert Margouleff and Malcolm Cecil—for more than 50 years. And the appreciation continues with this night helmed by DJs Spinna and Supreme La Rock. You can expect to hear dozens of Stevie hits and—let's hope—deep cuts such as the mutant-disco oddity “Race Babbling,” the fusion ripper “Contusion,” and the spectral ballad “Black Maybe,” written for the great vocalist Syreeta. by Dave Segal
