Cheeky Cafe gives grandma’s comfort food a multicultural kick in the ass. Nestled at the base of a condominium—with the generally forgettable but pleasant decor you’d expect, warmly lit by south-facing windows—the restaurant brings an Asian flavor to traditional American comfort favorites. A signature example: In Young-Spired Spicy Mac—named after Cheeky’s pastry chef, In Young, for a dish her mother used to make with Kraft cheese—is a satisfying, creamy blend of macaroni and cheese and a small amount of kimchi. Also: nostalgia-inducing desserts (gooey chocolate chip cookies, cream puffs) and Washington State wines.
