Mama Sambusa
Our friend Jill says: "Yesterday [June 18, 2011] I was handed a flyer by a stout, fierce woman in a bright pink al-amira, who pointed to the flyer and boomed, "THIS IS ME, MAMA SAMBUSA. YOU COME." Then another woman, a couple yards away, wearing sweats and in a wheelchair, said (without yelling, and much earnest patting of her bosom), "She is really good. I am from Ethiopia, she is from Somalia, but her food is very, very good." The dishes pictured on the flyer: KK Combo (no idea, bad photo), baked chicken and rice, sema ombogo (looks tasty but hard to describe, the internet offers no help), injera combo (not sure what might come with the bread to make it a combo), fish combo (appears to be a whole fish with several small cups of sauce), grilled chicken and salad, grilled lamb and rice, pasta alfredo and shrimp, and a sambusa combo (a Northeast African samosa, shows six plus a salad for $8). In case this needs to be said, it's Muslim-owned, so it'll be juice and tea to drink. Everything is under $10 and if the portions are at all accurate, you could easily feed two non-ravenous adults with one combo. The flyer says it's a grand re-opening. The restaurant is inside Detail Carwash."
