Ipanema is an all-you-can-eat rodizio dining experience, around $40 per person at dinner, crazed wedding-reception atmosphere included. The buffet salads exceed expectations—everything's fresh and fairly luscious, like a citrus slaw with red onion, oranges, and ruby grapefruit. Phase two is a long line of side-dishes: porky, garlicky greens; feijão rico, the traditional, rich black beans, also with plenty of pork bits; rice that's a little gluey in a buttery, delicious way; dense, chewy cheese bread; and puddinglike fried bananas. Then the real eating begins: Rodizio equals a dozen types of meat, mesquite roasted and carved table-side by passadores with a huge, sword-like knife.
