Stranger Says: A documentary about poetry, about growing up in the projects of Toronto, about a special girl, Francine Valentine, and the way in which she sees the world. Francine’s life is not easy. She’s had to grow up much too quickly, but her thoughtful approach to life seems to make her impervious to defeat. “On the streets, it’s not what you have. It’s what you make of what you have, and that’s that,” she writes. The film is in equal parts about a beautiful mind and how art saves the mind from a world that is not always so beautiful.
