Another weekend has arrived, and while this one isn't chock-full of holidays and snow, there's still plenty of fun to be had outside your standard routine. Read our latest batch of suggestions for activities and IRL events below, from how to use your library card to acquire a Museum Pass (which gets you free admission to newly reopened spots like the National Nordic Museum List ) to the Field to Table Past Event List open-air dining series at Lumen Field, and from local BIPOC makers and businesses to shop from for Black History Month and beyond (like Monika Mathews's Columbia City skincare boutique QueenCare) to places to get coffee and cherry pie for early Twin Peaks Day celebrations, which is officially next Wednesday. For even more options, read our guides to the best online events this week List , the best movies to watch this week List , and our complete, ever-evolving guide to in-person things to do in Seattle

ARTS & MUSIC

Get a Museum Pass for free admission to newly reopened museums. As more and more institutions reopen for in-person visits under Phase 2, Seattle Public Library cardholders (apply for one here if you don't have one!) can now get a Museum Pass for free admission to the Seattle Aquarium List , the Burke Museum List , MoPOP List , and the National Nordic Museum List , which just reopened Past Event List this week. You can reserve one pass—each of which includes at least two adult tickets—per week, and can reserve one pass to the same museum once every 30 days. New passes are available every night after 9 pm.

Celebrate Kurt Cobain's birthday. While he was born in Aberdeen, more than 100 miles from Seattle, the late, great grunge boy Kurt Cobain is inexorably tied to the Emerald City, which has a little bit to do with local record giant Sub Pop List , who like to credit themselves with discovering Nirvana. On his birthday this weekend (Sat Feb 20), make yourself a breakfast of Kraft macaroni and cheese (allegedly his favorite dish), throw on your most mangled mohair sweater, and embark on a mini Kurt pilgrimage. Start in Denny-Blaine near Lake Washington Boulevard, where you can leave gifts and messages on his Sharpie-adorned memorial bench in Viretta Park. (If you happen to have a pack of his favorite smokes, Winston Lights 100's, he'd surely appreciate one from beyond the grave.) If you crane your neck, the park also boasts a partial view of the house where he spent his last days. Next, stop for a beer at Linda's Tavern List (whose outdoor patio is open for in-person seating), which some people will have you believe is the last place he was seen in public. Before heading home, swing by your local record purveyor—like Everyday Music List , Easy Street List , or Jive Time List —to pick up some Nirvana vinyl. Once you're back, queue up Brett Morgan's artful documentary Montage of Heck or Gus Van Sant's fictionalized Last Days (which gets points solely for its Kim Gordon cameo) to cap off the day.

Or, plan a COVID-safe birthday party for your other favorite Pisces. The fishes of the zodiac are as complex as any other sign, but anecdotal studies show that any given Pisces will be touched if you remember their birthday. With that in mind, go the extra mile for your favorite person(s) born between February 19 and March 20 by sending them a Party in a Box from the Works List , a DIY kit that comes with rainbow confetti cake mix and baking cups, sparkly decorations, and a celebratory playlist. For something as elusive as the recipient of your gifts, opt for the Mystery Night In Box from local company Mystery, which promises "3-5 hours of entertainment" coupled with goods from local businesses. If your Pisces values alone time (they do), get them some spa-worthy tinctures, teas, and bath provisions from apothecaries like SugarPill List or Madrona House Apothecary. While you're at it, throw in a new notebook (like this one from Grapheme List ) in which they can record their innermost thoughts and feelings.

FOOD & DRINK

Celebrate Cherry Pie Day and Twin Peaks Day. "Diane, 11:30 am, February 24. Entering the town of Twin Peaks, five miles south of the Canadian border, twelve miles west of the state line. I've never seen so many trees in my life." With these words spoken into his trusty tape recorder, Kyle McLachlan's character Agent Dale Cooper forever cemented February 24 as "Twin Peaks Day," a day dedicated to the creepy, cult-favorite David Lynch series filmed in Snoqualmie, North Bend, and Fall City. Just days earlier, this Saturday, February 20, is another holiday that the lovably eccentric special agent would definitely approve of: Cherry Pie Day. Celebrate either (or both!) of these occasions by partaking in Cooper's favorite pastime: enjoying a slice of "cherry pie that'll kill ya" alongside a cup of "damn fine coffee." For the former, check out A La Mode PiesPie Bar, or High 5 Pie, and for the latter, try Analog Coffee List , Preserve & Gather List , Boon Boona Coffee, Espresso Vivace, The Station List  or Broadcast Coffee—just make sure there's not a fish in the percolator. Alternatively, DIY your own Black Lodge-inspired pie using the unauthorized Twin Peaks cookbook, Damn Fine Cherry Pie. Other ways to participate include marathoning the surreal soap opera satire on Netflix (of course) or taking a road trip to visit North Bend—you can gaze at Snoqualmie Falls (which was featured in the show's intro) and stop at Twede's Cafe List (the filming location for the show's iconic Double R Diner, currently open for takeout and limited indoor dining). Whatever you decide, make sure you give yourself some time to indulge. In the words of Agent Cooper himself: "Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don’t plan it, don’t wait for it. Just let it happen. It could be a new shirt at the men’s store. A catnap in your office chair. Or two cups of good, hot black coffee. Like this."

Find some fish. The extravagance and excess of Mardi Gras has come and gone, and now it's Lent, the time of moderation and penance. Catholics abstain from eating meat each Friday during this period, and it's Lenten tradition to eat fish on Fridays (we have this custom to thank for the invention of the McDonald's Filet-O-Fish). Whether or not you're religious, we can all agree it's a great time to up our omega-3 fatty acid intake (important in winter!) and avail ourselves of the bounty of fresh seafood that the Pacific Northwest has to offer. The Pioneer Square fried chicken spot Cookie's Country Chicken List is currently offering fried crunchy cornmeal catfish every Friday through the end of Lent. For something more unexpected, the lauded sushi spot Shiro's List currently is offering a variety of crispy rice sushi burgers, with options for grilled smoked salmon and avocado shrimp (as well as a vegan tofu version). We also suggest the po'boys and fish burgers at Emerald City Fish and Chips List and the lobster rolls and fish sandwiches at Local Tide List . Alternatively, grab a copy of Naomi Tomky's Pacific Northwest Seafood Cookbook and learn how to recreate dishes from chefs like Tom Douglas, Mutsuko Soma of Kamonegi List , Shiro Kashiba of Sushi Kashiba List , and more.

Try some celebrity ghost kitchens. Stars: They're just like us! Except that they sometimes have their own branded national food delivery services. Two such ghost kitchens have recently arrived in Seattle: The flamboyant Food Network fixture Guy Fieri has launched List a delivery-only "ghost kitchen" restaurant concept called Guy's Flavortown Kitchen List with locations across the country, and one is now operating out of the South Lake Union location of the ultra-kitschy Italian restaurant chain Buca di Beppo. The bleach-haired cooking personality's menu includes cheesesteak egg rolls, bourbon brown sugar barbecue wings, bacon-wrapped jalapeño poppers, queso dip, burgers, fried chicken sandwiches, and other over-the-top comfort food. In December, Mariah Carey also rolled out List an online cookie delivery service called Mariah's Cookies List in collaboration with Planet Hollywood founder Robert Earl and Virtual Dining Concepts, with offerings like chocolate chunk, triple chocolate chunk, Heath bar, lemon cooler, spiced oatmeal raisin, white chocolate cranberry, pumpkin, and gingerbread, available in Seattle and 30 other cities across the country. Order some burgers to go with your Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives viewing, or enjoy some milk and cookies while listening to the audiobook of Mariah's extremely fun memoir The Meaning of Mariah Carey.

Celebrate National Margarita Day. Monday, February 22, is National Margarita Day, as good of an excuse as any to partake in some salty, limey elixirs. Check out Fogón List , Dreamland Bar and Diner List , Nacho Borracho List , Casco Antiguo, or Red Star Taco Bar List for some top-notch margs to go. All four of Matador Past Event List 's Seattle-area locations will also have special drinks for the occasion.

Try cookbooks from local authors and chefs. As we approach the first anniversary of the beginning of the pandemic, home cooking might have become more of a slog than a respite. But it doesn't have to be: We've gathered a list List of cookbooks from some of our favorite local chefs and writers, like Renee Erickson and Rachel Yang, so you can refresh your repertoire with new-to-you recipes and beloved dishes that evoke pre-COVID memories of dining in some of Seattle's most popular restaurants.

SHOP LOCAL

Shop from BIPOC artists and makers. Black History Month or not, it's always important to support Black-owned businesses, especially locally. In addition to our directory of Black-owned restaurants, take this post-Valentine's Day weekend to treat yourself to candles, crafts, clothing, and more from Seattle's bevy of BIPOC makers. Not sure where to start? The local festival turned online shop Renegade Craft has a whole section of BIPOC-made goods, like an Apple Bottom Pie soy candle by the Blk Alien. Skincare enthusiasts should check out QueenCare, a small-batch aromatherapy and skincare boutique run by Monika Mathews in Columbia City (open for in-person shopping, curbside pickup, and local delivery). Over in West Seattle (with an outpost in Queen Anne), Malika Siddiq's boutique Lika Love sells clothing and accessories (including floral face masks), as well as monthly subscription boxes and virtual styling appointments. If you're looking to redecorate, Karl Hackett's Jacob Willard Home in Hillman City, open for private appointments, offers a curated selection of vintage and restored mid-century pieces. Other notable mentions: the social justice-minded Beacon Hill bookstore Estelita's Library, Adorned Abode List in Tacoma for air plants, jewelry, and stationery from regional makers, the Valerie Madison Fine Jewelry Studio in Madrona, and Edouardo Jordan's JuneBaby List , which, in addition to takeout, offers merch, spice blends, and other pantry goods on their online shop

Visit the extended Arundel Books. List The tiny and adorable Pioneer Square bookstore (which specializes in art, photography, and antiquarian books) is still in Pioneer Square and is still adorable, but it is no longer so tiny. As of Saturday, you can visit its new location at 322 First Ave South, which, built in 1900, used to house the Capitol Brewing and Malting Company. They're also extending their hours to seven days a week! In the era of COVID especially, this move is a joyous feat for an indie bookseller.

OTHER PICKS & HAPPENINGS

Stock up on locally made board games. You may already know Seattle-based cartoonist Matt Inman, the progenitor of The Oatmeal, from his wildly popular card game Exploding Kittens, described as a "highly-strategic, kitty-powered version of Russian Roulette." With rain in the forecast this weekend, he's right on time with a new kitty-themed creation called Kitty Letter, an app where crossword puzzles and hand-to-hand combat collide. "I wanted a deathmatch competitive word game and this was what I came up with," Inman told the Seattle Times. "It operates like a playable Oatmeal comic equipped with a thoughtful storyline, sound effects and, of course, exploding cats" the piece explains. Another local designer, Joshua Buergel, is out with The Fox in the Forest, which The Stranger's Nathalie Graham calls "a two-player fairytale-inspired trick-taking game." Meanwhile, local gaming company Prospero Hall (née Forrest-Pruzan Creative) has over 350 board games in their repertoire, including Bob Ross: The Art of Chill, Donner Dinner Party, and Harry Potter: Hogwarts Battle.

Prep for Purim. Like most Jewish holidays, Purim—which, as told in the Megillah, recalls how Queen Esther helped save the Jewish people from Haman, an antisemitic vizier of the Persian empire—revolves around food and storytelling. Unlike most Jewish holidays, though, it's also branded by wild costumes, making it a particularly fun occasion for families. To ensure optimum fun-ness, take this weekend to get some prep work out of the way so you and your household/quarantine pod can spend next week's holiday (February 25-26) enjoying yourselves. The first thing you'll want to do is get your hands on the aforementioned Megillah, as reading it aloud is a central aspect of the holiday. (If you don't want to read the whole thing, rely on this abridged version.) Then it's costume time. If you're so inclined, you can doctor up your wardrobe to resemble ancient royalty, or you can set your Purim story in outer space. There truly are no rules. Most importantly, you'll want to get your ingredients together for a Purim buffet, which could consist of challah (fluffy, braided egg bread), fried chickpeas (it's said that Esther ate only nuts, seeds, and legumes while living at the palace to avoid eating non-kosher food), kreplach (filled dumplings usually served in soup), and hamentaschen (triangle-shaped cookies filled with jam). Uri Scheft and Raquel Pelzel's cookbook The Artisanal Kitchen: Jewish Holiday Baking, available at Book Larder List , has recipes for you. If you don't want to do all the work on your own, head to a drive-in at the Phinney Neighborhood Association Past Event List (Thurs Feb 25), pick up your preordered Purim Party Box at Block 41 from Chabad Young Professionals and Chabad of Downtown (Thurs Feb 25), or preorder a Purim Dinner (lamb or mushroom kebab, couscous, roasted carrots with harissa, and hamantaschen) from Josh Grunig's Jewish deli Zylberschtein's List (Feb 24-26).

Other notable weekend events:
