"Join us virtually Tuesday, December 1 at 6 p.m. PT for a one-night-only benefit featuring unforgettable performances by Alice in Chains, as well as an acclaimed lineup of musicians who will put their own twist on some of the band’s most iconic songs.

For the first time ever, our highly-anticipated Founders Award annual fundraising event will move to an online platform where it will be open for all, giving pop culture lovers across the world an opportunity to connect and become part of our creative community.

While this year’s Founders Award will stream for free, like many arts organizations around the country, as a community-supported nonprofit and in-person gathering space we have been hit hard by the COVID-19 crisis. All proceeds raised through Founders Award 2020 go toward preserving pop culture history for tomorrow’s generation, creating community with engaging programs and events, and motivating future creators to explore their own artistic expression.

The influence of Alice in Chains (vocalist and guitarist Jerry Cantrell, drummer Sean Kinney, bassist Mike Inez and vocalist, and guitarist William DuVall) is woven into the fabric of Seattle music history. For the last three decades, their musicianship, advocacy work, and dedication to their fans have made them an integral part of Seattle’s artistic community. They’re also an important part of MoPOP’s legacy. Through their inspiring performances in our Sky Church, their preservation of stories for future generations of music lovers, and their dedication to our youth programs – their impact on the museum runs deep. MoPOP is honored to present them with the 2020 Founders Award." (Promo Copy)
