After making the move from Tel Aviv to Seattle, Chef Shimi Kahn began serving his Israeli-Mediterranean fare in 2009 at farmer's markets around the city. That transitioned into a food truck, and now a brick-and-mortar location (in the former Yummy Teriyaki location) and a catering business. Whatever your occasion or need, Kahn's menu is solid: homemade pita bread, fresh falafel, and sandwiches bursting with flavors like sheep's milk feta, pickled mango, tahini, and the famous purple slaw. There's an emphasis on to-go items, which are a nod to Israel's popular takeout culture.
