Sharing the space and management of Trabant Coffee, Laika serves Russian food with "a fresh, local approach," plus cocktails with names like the Lenin ("which tastes amazingly like a Creamsicle") and the Trotsky (which contains pineapple juice, perhaps in tribute to his assassination in Mexico). Chef Joseph Bollag has cooked at How to Cook a Wolf; his menu includes Siberian latkes, Il Corvo egg pasta stroganoff, beetroot vereniki, and more. The place is named after the stray dog sent into space on Sputnik 2, who did not survive the trip.
