The Seattle Aquarium was opened in 1977 by the City of Seattle Department of Parks and Recreation. Now independent, the aquarium aims to "inspire conservation of our marine environment." They house a variety of species of marine life throughout their six exhibits (Windows on Washington Waters, Life on the Edge, Pacific Coral Reef, Birds & Shores, Water Dome, and Marine Mammals).
