i got a bit more butter than i did marrow; the most predominant flavor, though, ended up being the thyme. also a little past my preferred medium rare, but not enough to count against it. overall this was a tasty burger, but i think the balance of flavors ended up weighing differently than i’d hoped they would.

Woodsman Butter Burger
at The Woodsman Tavern
Every day, through August 21
quietly praying to myself that 2oz of butter was an exaggeration, because that's half a stick of butter. but guess what? half a stick of butter is delicious, especially when mixed with flaky sea salt and herbs. the patty was a lovely, crispy, thinner patty, and putting it into a james beard onion sandwich is some galaxy brain shit. this was one of my favorites

well-seasoned, intensely savory patty cooked to a perfect medium rare that paired great with the aged swiss and sweet bacon/onion/mushroom jam. juicy AF and left a pool in the paper tray. platonically ideal burger that all fancy burgers should aspire to be

a gooey mess. attempting to put it back on the plate before devouring it would disrespect this burger. pickled onions cut nicely through the fat from the cheese and burger. i was surprised to see this 1/4 patty cooked to a nice pink, somewhere in a happy place between medium rare and medium. went great with their mexican lager

could've used a little more of the whipped walla walla cream cheese, but the chili crisp was delicious and the burger overall was a very tasty entry from Bar Bar.

Boke Burger
at Boke Bowl
Every day, through August 21
this burger wasn't bad but, like much of Boke Bowl's food, it also didn't stand out as anything special. An Xuyên always kills it so the bun was amazing. the burger itself tasted good, and i liked the gochujang aioli, but i would have liked a bit more shaved onion and pickles to cut through the burger and cheese.
