If you’re on a budget after holiday shopping but determined to end the season with a bang, not to worry. There are plenty of ways to ring in the new year without your bank account going in the red. We’ve rounded up such opportunities for merrymaking on a dime here, with events under $20 from New Years Eve Is A Drag! to Quarterworld's NYE Extravaganza. Back To The 90's New Year's Eve Party
Past Event List Start off 2022 with this '90s-themed party where you can belt out the lyrics and dance to throwback jams like "No Scrubs," "This Is How We Do It," "Baby Got Back," and other chart toppers of the decade before clinking glasses during a midnight champagne toast.

Past Event List Go way, way back in time and walk with the dinosaurs at this prehistoric- and tropical-themed bash featuring a "dinosaur auld lang syne midnight countdown" by Charlie Rocket and DJ support from feu du camp, Spin Instructor, and BRISTOW. Channel your inner caveperson, dress in tropical togs, or don your dino or animal onesies and let loose.

DJ Gregarious' NYE Retro/Future Dance Party!
Past Event List Shake off the troubles of 2021 and step into 2022 at this retro/future dance party where DJ Gregarious will spin disco, soul, funk, new wave, punk, electropop, hip-hop, and more. The upper level of Doug Fir will be bedecked with glamorous decor as you usher in the new year with festive drink specials and a midnight sparkling toast. Early bird entrants (before 9 pm) and Y La Bamba Past Event List ticket holders will get in free.

NYE New Wave Halloween Party Past Event List
Portland's self-proclaimed longest running '80s night will recall the spooky vibes of Halloween with B-sides, new wave, and dark/alternative cuts. Requests will be honored and DJ NoN will be running a livestream of the proceedings in case you'd rather dance in the safety of your living room.

Quarterworld NYE Extravaganza
Past Event List DJ Sonny Phono will crank out '80s and '90s hits, classics, and bangers for a dance party you'll remember 2021 by. The retro arcade also promises a "giant-ass" midnight balloon drop and you can spring for VIP admission to get free drink and play tickets.

SLAY NYE Past Event List
The New Year's Eve edition of this LGBTQ+ and BIPOC-centered hip-hop dance party will have resident DJ Ronin Roc on the 1's and 2's as per usual, but you can also expect special guest DJs and performers WWJP, 8Flat, and Xiuhtezcatl, plus a free photobooth courtesy of Booth of Bass.

2022 NYE Party at Candy Night Club
Past Event List End 2021 on a sweet note as DJs Taj Malik, Everettz, and more unannounced names bump all sorts of sounds, from hip-hop, house, and top 40 remixes to Latin and reggae. Past Event List The rock and roll hotel will host rustic roots rockers Cedar Teeth, bluegrass band The Muddy Souls, and folk duo Dead Lee (Blitzen Trapper founding member Brian Koch and singer/songwriter Kara Harris) at their farewell to 2021.

A local nine-piece ensemble fronted by vocalist and guitarist Charlotte McCaslin, Roselit Bone incorporates an assortment of instruments to produce their brand of “psychotic, apocalyptic cowgirl music.” Enjoy Nordic-inspired fare and libations at Dóttir while they do their thing at this free, all-ages show.

Past Event List For those looking for something to do on New Year's Eve that's not a big to-do, LaurelThirst has you covered with this mellow evening of music during which Lewi Longmire will host friends and family musicians of the pub (and you!) for an improvised jam sesh.

Cruz into '22 New Year's Eve!
Past Event List Cruise Cruz into the new year at this extravaganza of music, comedy, and drag. Portland Queer Comedy Festival founder Belinda Carroll and Juliet Mylan will host a stacked lineup before DJ Aurora takes the reins for a dance party. The night will be capped off by improv comedy songwriter Annie Vergnetti who will usher in the new year with an occasion-marking tune.

Past Event List The Queen's Head is tempering expectations for New Year's Eve since it usually ends up being a disappointing night anyway. A relatively new addition to the city's queer nightlife scene, the bar will have "no cover, no DJ, no countdown, and no corks popping," just another night out where you'll be able to enjoy some food and drinks.
