CLOSURES

Baker's List
Baker's, we hardly knew ye: Just eight weeks after its November opening, this "bar with fun food" in the former La Moule List space unfortunately called it quits on New Year's Day, citing "reasons beyond our control." However, all is (hopefully) not lost: The closing announcement added, "This isn’t goodbye, we will be back in some way somehow."
Hosfored-Abernethy

Toyshop Ramen List
Another restaurant gone too soon: This late-night ramen bar, which opened last February and features handmade noodles from chef Isaac Ocejo alongside a collection of vinyl toys and arcade games, announced this week that its final service will be this Sunday, January 21.

Fuyu Fest 2024 Past Event List
Much has been made of the Scandinavian concept of hygge, but don't let that distract you from the fact that Japanese culture also has plenty of coziness and elegance to offer. The second edition of this annual winter-themed festival, which is dedicated to the intersection of Japanese and Pacific Northwest culture, will offer over 65 types of craft Japanese sake as well as koji coffee, a themed menu from local food vendors, and sake-inspired desserts. Watch local mixologists show off their prowess with sake cocktails, learn about methods and philosophy from a Tokyo hot sake specialist, and soak up knowledge of sake culture and history from experts.
Olympic Mills Commerce Center, 2-5 pm

SUNDAY, JANUARY 21

Babkush Pastry Pop-up Past Event List
The small-scale Jewish bakery Babkush specializes in pastry delights honoring global Jewish food traditions, including babkas, rugelach, and amaretti. Get your grubby hands on some of these treats at this pop-up at the ever-adorable Zuckercreme. A portion of proceeds will go to B'Tselem, a human rights nonprofit whose mission is to end Israel’s regime of apartheid and occupation, and We Are Not Numbers, which provides English-language writing workshops to help young Palestinians in Gaza tell their stories.

Fools and Horses List
The stylish cocktail bar is serving a cocktail called the "El Rey," perfectly suited for "adventurous and savory" palates with bacon fat-washed tequila, chile-infused curaçao, lime, and tiki bitters.
Pearl District

GNARLYS List
This popular vegan comfort food spot will test-run a new brunch menu from 11 am-3 pm on Saturday, January 20, complete with avocado focaccia toast, biscuits and gravy, French toast, blueberry pancakes, and eggs Benedict with potatoes. I'm particularly excited for their cinnamon roll, which feeds two and comes slathered in house-made apple pecan compote and icing. They also tease that a coffee menu is coming soon.
Buckman

Old Pal List
The cozy, seasonally driven neighborhood bistro's newest dessert is a salted caramel panna cotta topped with crushed ginger snaps.
