Chef Sage Houser is slinging South Texan-style hot dogs at Grey Horse Saloon. (Third Coast Hot Dogs)
Welcome to March! We're forging ahead into a fresh month with the arrival of Grey Horse Saloon, where chef Sage Houser is serving gussied-up franks from his pop-up Third Coast Hot Dogs. Plus, Ice Queen puts a vegan spin on the Shamrock Shake, and natural wine abounds at The Wild Bunch this weekend. For more ideas, check out our food and drink guide.

Chef Sage Houser, who's worked at Gumba List , Pizza Jerk, and Matt's BBQ, recently debuted this pop-up incubator inside Legion Motorcycle Company. The space will transform into a saloon, but in the meantime, it'll host three pop-ups: Houser's own concept Third Coast Hot Dogs, in addition to the Italian pizza pop-up Picco Pizza and the sushi pop-up Sushi Closet.

Beaches List
This iconic Vancouver waterfront restaurant plans to close permanently at the end of the year after nearly 30 years of business due to owners Mark Matthias and Ali Novinger's retirement.

Pho Gabo List
It's hard to imagine not wanting to inhale the aromatic scent of simmering pho, but this Vietnamese favorite has shuttered its Northeast Fremont Street location after the city and neighbors whined about the smell. Brooke Jackson-Glidden of Eater Portland rightly points out the racist and xenophobic connotations of these grumblings, writing, "If you don’t like the smell of cooking food, maybe don’t live near a restaurant?"

Portland's Shortest Parade and Mills Ends Beer Release Party Past Event List
This is what they're talking about when they say "keep Portland weird": Local celebrity/bagpiper/Darth Vader-helmeted unicyclist the Unipiper will lead a procession from Mill Ends Park, known for being the world's smallest park, to Paddy’s Bar and Grill, a mere 400 feet away. There, you'll be able to sample Gigantic Brewing's new Mills End Red (an Irish red beer) and win free swag and raffle prizes.
Paddy's Bar & Grill, 5 pm

18th Annual Portland Seafood & Wine Festival Past Event List
It's time once again to gorge yourself on fruits de mer and glug lots of vino at this annual culinary extravaganza, which just so happens to fall during peak Dungeness crab season. Look forward to attractions like over 40 wineries, live music, and an appearance from Deadliest Catch star Capt. Keith Colburn. Plus, the festival will showcase wines deemed the best from a state-wide competition.

The Wild Bunch Past Event List
If you're one of the many people who has become enamored of natural, low-intervention wines over the last several years, I have good news for you: this annual fair founded by Bar Norman owner Dana Frank will offer over 400 natural wines from over 60 winemakers all over the world. Besides vino, the festival also offers food and drink from Sebastiano's, Lupine, Duality Brewing, and Prince Coffee; DJ tunes; and a retail shop with goods from Bar Norman and Vivienne Culinary Books.
The Factor Building, 11 am-4 pm

CSA Share Fair Past Event List
If you've ever aspired to be the type of virtuous person who receives a local CSA share, here's your chance: The Pacific Northwest CSA Coalition will host this free, family-friendly fair where you can learn about community-supported agriculture programs, sign up for one, and watch a series of seasonal cooking demonstrations by local chefs, including De Noche executive chef Dani Morales, Masala Lab PDX and DesiPDX chef/owner Deepak Saxena, and Elise Moore and David Propst of the pop-up ROAM. (Plus, we hear there will be samples.)
The Redd on Salmon, 10 am-1 pm

OMSI After Dark: CiderFest Past Event List
What if your sixth-grade museum field trip grew up to be the boozy evening of your dreams? Such is the premise behind this geeked-out cider fest presented by OMSI in collaboration with 2 Towns Cider House. Quaff boozy apple-based libations, learn about cidermaking, check out hands-on science demos that would make Bill Nye proud, and traipse through OMSI's featured "Staying Alive: Defenses of the Animal Kingdom" exhibit with no kids around. Local food vendors like Clarklewis, Mudge Fudge, and Sinful Confections will also sling tasty snacks.
Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, 6-10 pm

Ice Queen List
Skip the Shamrock Shake from a certain fast food chain this March in lieu of Ice Queen's new "Lubdan Milkshake." Named for the villain of the Leprechaun horror movie series, the oat milk-based shake features chocolate flecks, mint, gold edible shimmer, and whipped cream. Plus, $2 from every purchase will benefit the Palestinian Children’s Relief Fund.

P's and Q's Market List
Much to the delight of its fans, the market's popular fried polenta sandwich is now back on the menu.

Sugarpine Drive-In List
The retro drive-in has teamed up with Sebastiano's owners Elise and Dan Gold to create a Sicilian-inspired sundae special called "La Dolce Vita," made with Sebastiano’s anise-almond biscotti, orange marmellata, Campari olive oil cake bites, and candied citrus and available through the end of March.
