"Income Movement will be hosting its Second Annual Basic Income March, as the culminating event for the International Basic Income Week of events. This year, more than 30 cities across the globe are participating in Basic Income March events! This annual event is an opportunity for supporters of basic income to demonstrate to their communities and political leadership the strength of this movement.

The PDX for Basic Income Event will be an opportunity for members in the community to come together to share their stories for why a Basic Income is needed. There has been a tremendous amount of loss being endured, and financial insecurity shouldn't be a stress for those living in the wealthiest nation in the world. There will also be an Eviction Art Installation to highlight the devastating account of how many individuals suffer from housing insecurity in communities of color and for the public to engage with how a basic income can address basic needs for housing.

With House Representatives Earl Blumenauer and Suzanne Bonamici co-sponsoring legislation that would provide individuals with a $2000 monthly Basic Income, we must come together to rally support and urgency to demand that legislation get passed during the COVID stimulus negotiations in Congress that will include these critically needed monthly payments.

Did you know that if Portland received an Emergency Universal Basic Income of $2000 a month, it would generate $926 Million dollars into our economy every single month!

We hope you'll join us to share your voice, protest at street corners around the park, and observe the Eviction Installation Art piece.

*This event is socially-distanced. Please wear a mask to keep our community safe and healthy!
