The following description comes from the event organizer.

REASON, born Robert Lee Gill Jr., is the new commanding voice in hip-hop from Carson, California. Despite the challenges he faced growing up in Southern Los Angeles, REASON found music as an outlet to express the realities of his environment around him. He is known for his technical abilities and insightful lyrics which he uses to tell stories that shed light on his often underrepresented community.

REASON launched his independent career in 2015, releasing his first mixtape In The Meantime, which he followed with The Free Album and The Proof on SoundCloud in 2016. However, it was in 2018 that his career took off when he signed a record deal with renowned record label Top Dawg Entertainment (home of Kendrick Lamar, SZA and others). His first singles "The Soul", "Better Dayz" and his TDE debut album, There You Have It, all gained critical attention and established him amongst the next generation of artists to watch.

REASON went on to release New Beginnings in 2020 showcasing his growth as an artist, featuring collaborations with TDE labelmates like ScHoolboy Q, Ab-Soul, and Isaiah Rashad. In August 2023, REASON released his sophomore album, Porches, which explores themes close to his heart and community, pushing him into another level of industry acclaim.
