The nonprofit Do Good Multnomah, which provides low-barrier emergency shelter to veterans experiencing houselessness, noticed they had an overabundance of donated ingredients like yogurt, flour, butter, and oranges on their hands and no easy way to use them all in meals for their participants. Their cunning solution? To turn them all into almond orange breakfast cakes, thanks to a recipe provided by a professional pastry chef. They're selling the results alone and as part of bundles with other items (like bags of locally roasted coffee beans and T-shirts) to raise funds.
