NEW OPENINGS AND RETURNS

Phaya Thai Express List
The team behind Mestizo List , Norah List , and Nudi List debuted this fast-casual restaurant, inspired by Panda Express and the Thailand-based khao gaeng shops (spots serving curries and stir-fries over rice) of co-owner Nan Chaison's youth, on Hawthorne on Wednesday. Choose from options like massaman curry and chicken curry puffs.

Redstraw Tea Bar List
This California-based chain purveying house-made "fusion teas" and bingsu recently opened its first Oregon location inside Pioneer Place.

CLOSURES

Pah! List
The proudly Latinx-owned, queer-owned, and deaf-owned stand inside The ZED List brewery and food hall announced last weekend that its final day of business will be on June 23, as owners Lillouie Barrios and Victor Covarrubias are relocating to Austin, Texas.

Toki List
This West End spot from Peter Cho and Sun Young-Park, the co-owners of the acclaimed Han Oak List  and Jeju List , will close permanently after its final brunch service on Sunday, May 26. In an announcement, the couple explained that they were "a little bit sad" but "excited to move forward, focus, and grow deeper," writing, "We’ll have more time for our family, our aging parents, and our amazing staff! As a collective team at Han Oak and Jeju we’ll try some new ideas, bring classics back like the Korean fried chicken with ‘essence of instant ramen’, the Crunchwrap Supreme, the Hanokonomiyaki, and the Bao!"

POP-UPS AND EVENTS

FRIDAY-MONDAY

Celebration of Oregon Brewers Festival Past Event List
Beer lovers, rejoice: Two perennial favorite gatherings, the Portland Rose Festival and the Oregon Brewers Festival, are merging once again for a dual celebration, included with the purchase of a CityFair ticket. OBF founder Art Larrance will curate a lineup of hoppy offerings, and attendees will be able to take home a keepsake 2024 Rose Festival mug with any 12-ounce pour.

SATURDAY, MAY 25

3rd Annual Holi Spring Harvest Fest featuring DJ Anjali & The Incredible Kid Past Event List
Holi is traditionally celebrated in March, but I don't mind that Topaz Farm honors the festival of life and rebirth in May. After all, the arrival of spring definitely varies in the Pacific Northwest. The harvest fest returns bigger and better in its third year with more performers and more food and drink vendors, in addition to the farm's own produce. Dance along to beats from DJ Anjali & The Incredible Kid and experience the vibrant joy of pelting strangers with organic colored powders imported from India (for the full effect, wear white clothes you don't care about staying white). I can't wait to get revved up on chai and cool down with some kulfi. SHANNON LUBETICH

Oyatsupan Bakers List
In celebration of its eighth anniversary, the Japanese bakery is offering a limited-time special "hachi" (the Japanese word for eight) doughnut in the shape of an eight. "Hachi" means both "eight" and "bee" in Japanese, so they're riffing on the pun with a tangy honey-rhubarb glaze, bee pollen, and edible flowers. Check out our list List for more seasonal rhubarb treats.
Beaverton

Phuket Cafe List
The playful, modern Thai spot is currently serving a special charcoal-grilled king oyster dish with coconut nam jim, chili crisp, and herb salad. For dessert, they also have a new mango sticky rice sundae that I'd like to eat, like, right now.
