Brunch Box's "Brunch Burger" special for Portland Mercury’s Burger Week is the perfect excuse to eat a burger for breakfast. (Brunch Box)

With nearly 40 bars and restaurants showing out for Portland Mercury’s Burger Week Past Event List 2021, it can be difficult to know where to start. For your convenience, we’ve hand-selected five of the most mouthwatering burgers worth your time. Happy eating! And we understand that you *might* need to incorporate some different foods into your diet between burgers, so if you’re in need of ideas, check out our full food & drink guide.

Brunch Box
List Brunch Burger: Beef patty, bacon, fried egg, American cheese, grilled onions, a hashbrown, and Aardvark habanero hot sauce served on a Henry Higgins everything bagel.
Why you should try: Is it a burger? Or technically a breakfast sandwich? Do we care? Brunchbox gives us a legit excuse to eat a burger for the first meal of the day, and this thing is so loaded we can’t believe it’s just six bucks.

Farmer and the Beast List
Fancy Beast: Nicky USA dry-aged blend, gruyere cheese, bacon-caramelized onion jam, caper aioli on a potato bun.
Why you should try: Dubbed the “best new smash burger” in town by The Oregonian’s Michael Russell last fall, this cart is trying its hand at a burger style they don’t usually do. Available for one week only, these babies are sure to sell like hotcakes.

Hop Capital Brewing PDX
List Full Steam Ahead: Bao bun, ground beef, American cheese, caramelized onion, Rose City sauce with Aardvark hot sauce, iceberg slaw, cucumber pickles
Why you should try: We love that this spot thought a little bit out of the box, and they get bonus points for being the most portable!

Next Level Burger List
Beyond Cluckin' Good Burger: Beyond Chicken tenders stacked with organic French fries, tempeh bacon, nacho cheese (v), organic lettuce, tomato, and chipotle mayo.
Why you should try: This all-vegan burger is a great opportunity to try out the recently debuted Beyond Chicken tenders… and we’re all for a burger that includes fries!

Piccone’s Corner
List The Italian Job: Big beef and pork meatball burger with mozzarella, red sauce, Calabrian chili, and fresh basil.
Why you should try: This market has been making waves with its high-quality meats since opening in February. It’sa one spicy meatball! *chef’s kiss*

Bonus from Burger Week's 2021 sponsor!

New Seasons Market
Slaw, Spice & Everything Nice: Local Carman Ranch grass-fed beef patty topped with a tangy, house-made summer slaw, havarti cheese, and harissa aioli on a brioche bun.
Why you should try: With a wealth of slaw *for health*, this burger makes sure you're getting in at least one serving of veg during an otherwise protein heavy Burger Week. Plus, you can get your grocery shopping for next week done after you mow this down!
