The following description comes from the event organizer.

Join the Japanese American Museum of Oregon for this Free First Sunday, generously sponsored in memory of Homer Yasui, and launch of the History Detectives Program!

This new program, for all ages but intended for 5-12 years of age, encourages engagement with the objects, photographs, and stories in the museum through the lens of a historian. Participants will learn important vocabulary, study artifacts, examine photos, maps, and documents, read and listen to stories, and ask and answer questions along the way.

Become a History Detective by picking up your booklet at the Japanese American Museum of Oregon starting April 7. Complete the three activities before the end of the year to get your official 2024 History Detectives badge!

The first scavenger hunt challenge will be released on April 7. Find the artifacts in the museum and get your History Detective book stamped.

Free museum admission on April 7 includes access to JAMO’s current exhibition, Craft, Community, and Care: The Art and Legacy of Bob Shimabukuro, as well as the museum’s permanent exhibition.
