Books that Bind: The Persianate Album and its Widespread Circulation in South Asia and Beyond
South Asian manuscript workshops created a large number of albums known as muraggas (which translates to "patched" or "mended" in Arabic) between the 16th and 19th centuries, which took a global approach to earlier album-making traditions associated with the royal courts of Iran and Central Asia.
