Things are looking up for Nicole Byer, who spent at least one of her pandemic lockdown days attending a drive-by funeral for a cat. The actress, comedian, writer, author, and podcaster (you almost certainly know her from Nailed It!, for which she's been nominated for four Emmys) recently debuted a Netflix stand-up special, and counts Mercury arts and culture editor Suzette Smith among the fans of her podcast, Why Won’t You Date Me?, in which she interviews comedians about their love lives.
