Valerie and Her Week of Wonders is the quintessential Czech New Wave flick—if you only watch one film from the movement, it should be this one. (But, like, you should probably watch more Czech New Wave films. Okay, moving on!) Strangely sensual, surreal, and psychedelic, the film (loosely) follows a teen girl facing womanhood. After donning a pair of magical earrings, she becomes locked in a bizarre dream of vampires, witches, and mystical threats.
