Building its reputation as a world-class destination for motorsports, Portland was recently selected as the sole US stop for the 2023 Formula E tour. The international all-electric racing tournament will hold its Portland E-Prix Like Add to a List event on June 24 at the Portland International Raceway.
The Portland Pride Festival and Parade Like Add to a List will move to July from its usual June dates to avoid scheduling conflicts with events such as Juneteenth and Father’s Day. This year, the event will take place on July 15-16.
The Oregon Zoo Like Add to a List will be closed Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays through February 16 for yearly maintenance. The closures will not affect special or after-hours events.
The Old Church Like Add to a List will reprise its free Lunchtime Concert series for 2023, shifting to a once-a-month schedule on the third Wednesday of the month at noon. Live audiences will be welcomed once again at the events, which will continue to be livestreamed as well.
Back in mid-December, Portland Parks and Recreation announced the permanent closure of the 93-year-old Columbia Pool in North Portland due to “life-safety hazards and diminishing structural integrity.”
The Roseway Theater, which suffered from a fire in August 2022, will be torn down. The theater’s neon marquee has been salvaged and will go on display at the National Neon Sign Museum in The Dalles.
