Take a break from the mundane world and dive deep into your spiritual heart. This online holistic-artistic class combines creating expressive acrylic paintings layered with personal meaning, guided meditations and somatics (body based therapy - e.g. intentional movement, sense soothing techniques, etc).

This class is spiritual – not religious. I use themes of personal development and common threads of seasonal observances to inspire our projects.

Sacred Art Circle is intended for beginners with no experience as well as seasoned artists. I guide you through easy-to-follow processes to help you achieve great results.

Please read the description until the end for important registration and policy details. If you have any questions please email me at gallerysati [@] gmail.com

About Shelley Irish:

I have been teaching art for over 20 years and online since 2013. I am a professional artist with an MFA in Figurative Oil Painting and am a certified Therapeutic Arts Coach from a CPD accredited academy. Testimonials can be found here.

What the classes are like:

Each month in Sacred Art Circle we meet for two 90 minute sessions to complete 1 step-by-step painting. Each painting is designed to be completed by beginners or established artists. Short, guided meditations are included in one of the two sessions each month - sometimes to inspire elements of the paintings and sometimes to enhance the process. Somatic exercises are also included to ground personal healing into your body.

Each month of class includes 2 hours of painting instruction, with about 1 hour of a combination of mediation, somatics, supply orientation, demonstration and discussion.

In Sacred Art Circle, we meet for 10 months a year with each month based on a different theme. We complete one painting per month, which is complimented by a guided meditation and somatics. You can take class for just one month, or as many as you like, with a discount for purchasing a year’s worth of classes at once.

Yearly themes include: personal growth, healing, protection and gratitude, with projects like painting your spirit animal, love for the earth and celebrating your innocent, magical inner child.

Learning art online:

If you are skeptical about learning art online, I understand. I use two camera angles and zoom in with a camera that hovers over my tabletop to give you highly detailed demonstrations. I took many painting classes to earn my Master's degree online which gave me intimate training from the student perspective of learning art online and have honed my role as an online teacher for over 10 years.

Duration and frequency of classes:

We meet on the 2nd and 4th Monday evening of the month from 6 - 7:30pm PDT. Two 90 minute sessions make up ‘one month’ of class.

Sacred Art Circle meets for 10 months a year – all months except June and December.

Registration timing requirements:

You must register for each class by the 1st of each month.

Fees:

Each month's fee is $65 for 3 hours of instruction. We meet on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month. You can take as many monthly classes as you'd like, you do not need to be with us every month, though I would love for you to be!

You may purchase a yearly Sacred Art Circle package for $600 which includes all 10 months of classes. This saves you $5 per month (regular price $650.) To purchase one year of classes, click here.

Tech and setup requirements:

You must have a workstation where you can see your painting and computer or large tablet screen at the same time. Phone and small tablet screens will not give you the amount of detail needed to complete the painting.

Supply Notes:

The supply quantities listed below are enough for at least one monthly project. Everyone paints at different thicknesses and uses different amounts of paint so the paint will last you one month or more depending on your style of use.

If you have questions about supplies you can email me at gallerysati [at] gmail.com.

If you’d like to order all your supplies through Amazon, I have created a shopping list that includes all required supplies, plus a nail brush and some great hand lotion that helps soothe your skin after clean up. View the list here. This list includes enough canvas boards for a full year’s worth of Sacred Art Circle classes, but you can substitute that item for one 8” x 10” canvas board if you are just doing a one-month session.

Supply requirements list to purchase all supplies individually:

One 8 inch x 10 inch canvas board (different sizes are OK. You can use 10” x 10” or 12” x 16” but please do not use a larger size than that because it will extend the time you need to complete each project.)

Acrylic paint in the following colors (at least 2 oz. of each color):

white, black, brown, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple and pink
