The following description comes from the event organizer.

Join us for an exclusive evening wine tasting! For more than a decade, Torii Mor has been the official winery of Portland Japanese Garden. In this special wine tasting held during the twilight hours in our Cultural Village, Torii Mor will present five of its best wines, each of which will be accompanied by light bites, curated to complement their complex flavors. Guests will also have the opportunity to purchase the wines they will be tasting at the event’s conclusion.

Paired with this special culinary event will be thoughts from Jon Tomaselli. Tomaselli, a warm and engaging storyteller, comes from a family with three generations of Italian winemakers—his earliest days in viticulture came at the age of 4. After moving to Oregon in 2006, Tomaselli joined Torii Mor under the leadership of eighth-generation Burgundian winemaker Jacque Tardy. Tomaselli, now Head Winemaker for Torii Mor, will discuss wine making, tasting, and pairing.

About Torii Mor

Operating out of one of the oldest established vineyards in the Willamette Valley, Torii Mor derives its name from the Torii gate that welcomes people in the property’s Japanese garden and “mor,” a Scandinavian word meaning “earth” and a nod to the Nordic roots of its founder, longtime Garden friend and supporter, Dr. Donald Olson. The winery has been producing thousands of cases of high-quality Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, and Chardonnay annually since its first vintage in 1993. Key to Torii Mor’s award-winning and delicious wines is the nature from which it is sourced: older vines at 800 feet in elevation in the rich Jory soil of the Dundee Hills.
