We’re expanding our coverage of things to do in Tacoma, and we need some help!

We’re looking for a smart, energetic, hardworking, detail-oriented self-starter who’s in the know about the latest arts and entertainment happenings in Tacoma, from high-minded arts and literature to local music to the most popular food truck festivals. If you’re the first to visit the buzziest new restaurants in town, you go out to concerts and art shows in your free time, and/or you’re the person your friends look to when planning a night out, this could be the position for you.

Our ideal candidate is a strong writer with a sense of humor who can use their voice to motivate readers to go out and experience Tacoma, but who’s also comfortable with data entry and working behind the scenes. We’re also looking for a hard-working, detail-oriented person who is dedicated to our mission of covering every last pop-up movie night and open mic in Tacoma. Experience in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment where accuracy is key is a plus.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Research, pitch, and write robust lists of events happening in Tacoma
  • Use EverOut’s custom content management system to enter and edit calendar events
  • Maintain EverOut Tacoma’s social media accounts
  • Copy-edit and fact-check existing Tacoma event and location listings
  • Work closely with EverOut’s Regional Calendar Director to complete a variety of daily and weekly tasks as assigned

Skills and Experience

  • Strong writing skills
  • Data entry/database experience
  • Excellent attention to detail and organization
  • Basic HTML knowledge
  • Copyediting and fact-checking experience a plus
  • A proactive, fast-learning, and self-motivated team player

Candidates should be able to visit The Stranger office in Seattle at least once a week; otherwise, remote work can be arranged. This position pays $15 an hour and requires 15–30 hours per week for a minimum of three months, with the possibility of extension to follow.

If this sounds like you, email a cover letter and resume to tacoma@everout.com. No phone calls or drop-ins please.
