OPENINGS

Electric Feather
According to a press release, this new private karaoke suite inside Outlier (signified only by a single glowing neon plume above the doorway) will have a preview party on June 14 and opens for reservations starting on June 15. Step inside and you'll find cocktails like Mai Tais, Singapore Slings, and the eponymous Electric Feather (Bulleit bourbon, amaro, orgeat, pineapple, grapefruit), and food options like oysters on the half shell and smashed duck fat fries, as well as a catalog of over 20,000 songs. The suite can be reserved for private use (similar to a private dining room), free of charge with a $50 minimum order.

FogRose
This Bellevue "ice cream boutique," which will host its grand opening tomorrow on June 2, serves locally sourced, handcrafted flavors made with liquid nitrogen to create a smoother texture. Customers can choose from five bases (custard, cream, chocolate, gelato, or sorbet); flavors like quinoa, olive oil, rhubarb, or pistachio rose; optional waffle cones or bowls; and stunning toppings like edible flowers or chocolate pearls.

Koku
Sure, you've heard of umami, but what about kokumi? Kokumi is the elusive "sixth taste" that describes a "rich flavor" or mouthfeel found in fats, and it's also the linchpin of this new Japanese cafe and market, which will open on June 19 in the former space of Queen Anne's Cederberg Tea House. The cafe will retain Cederberg's menu of teas, coffee, and rooibos drinks and supply its own new menu of sandwiches, salads, and rice bowls replete with funky fermented flavors and house-made ingredients, like miso and black garlic compound butters. Specialty Japanese ingredients will also be available for sale.

Métier Brewing Company
This community-focused, family-friendly brewery and taproom, which opens on June 2, features their own beers and root beer on draft, local cider, and in-house, nitro-brewed coffee, plus ample parking for cars and bikes.

Mr. Saigon
Located in the former location of Capitol Hill's University Market, this Vietnamese eatery from Lan Hue owner Huy Tat, which opened on May 28, features affordable banh mi sandwiches made with fresh house-made baguettes and homemade ingredients, as well as beer and cider on tap, Asian bottled beers, and Vietnamese coffee. It's all housed in a cute, bright, modern space with succulents and a record station in the corner.

Panther Creek Cellars
Acclaimed Oregon winery Panther Creek Cellars has opened a tasting room in Woodinville and will celebrate its grand opening this Saturday, June 2.

Victrola Coffee Roasters
The fourth location of the local cafe, which opened inside the downtown Macy's building this Thursday, features espresso, loose-leaf tea, and kombucha on tap, plus comfy seating.

Vine & Spoon
Owned by the F2T Hospitality Group (which also owns Alchemy and By the Pound), this New American restaurant in West Seattle opens today and comes courtesy of executive chef Nicholas Apt, who was named one of Seattle Met's "Next Hot Chefs of 2017" and who's spent time at Marmite, Altura, Mistral Kitchen, and Bisato. Expect a focus on "farmers market to table" fare, dishes made with garden-grown ingredients, and garden-inspired cocktails. There's also an open kitchen, raw bar, and large garden patio.

The Bar at Li’l Woody’s
Catering to Amazon's after-work crowd, Li'l Woody's South Lake Union location now has a bar that serves up slushies, boozy shakes, and happy hour snacks, including burgers, fries, and cheeseburger dumplings (!).

CLOSURES

Roosevelt Ale House
After a kitchen fire forced them to close after nine years of business in December, Maple Leaf watering hole Roosevelt Ale House originally planned to reopen, but has since announced that they will not be returning, due to litigation with their insurance company.

OTHER FOOD NEWS

North Star Diner and Shanghai Lounge patio for the summer
Greenwood's retro diner and patio, which Anthony Bourdain visited in an episode that aired last fall, has added a colorful 50-seat patio that is open daily until 2 am. The entire menu and bar menu are both available, as well as some special patio drink specials.

Machine House Brewery expanding to the Central District
Georgetown's English-style cask ale brewery Machine House hopes to open its new taproom in the Central District next door to L'Oursin in June.

Smokin’ Pete’s BBQ Catering moves to Shoreline
According to a press release, Smokin' Pete's BBQ Catering has moved to Shoreline at 15009 Aurora Avenue North. Its original building, which was home to The Butcher Shoppe for over thirty years and was a grocery store before that, is slated to be demolished and rebuilt. Though owner and Seattle native Julie Reinhardt notes she "grew up in Ballard and remembers when there were only 'old lady' shoe stores, a typewriter store, and even a rickety ice rink," she and co-owner Eric Reinhardt are excited to move into a new kitchen with more room to expand their catering business. The couple, who has been operating their business since 2004, closed the retail side in 2014 to focus exclusively on catering.

Bakery Nouveau releases Peacock Series
According to a press release, Bakery Nouveau co-owner and chocolatier William Leaman, who makes chocolate in the bakery's Burien location and is "intent on becoming the first bean-to-bakery maker of chocolate in North America," has launched his second line of artisan chocolate bars. The line is called the Peacock Series and features twelve bars in shiny gold wrappers and labels designed by Kiran Robertson. The bars retail for $7 each and are now available at all three Bakery Nouveau locations.

Pacific Northwest concept restaurant opens in San Francisco
Former Stranger food writer and current Seattle Times food writer Bethany Jean Clement wrote about a new Pacific Northwest "concept" restaurant called Birdsong in San Francisco, which attempts to recreate the Northwest's regional food and claims its mission is to "restore some of the ingredients that were essential to the food history of the land."

FRIDAY, JUNE 1

GLITTERis Pride Ale Release Party
As the official beer sponsors of Seattle Pride, Elysian brewers concocted a special fruit-forward ale by adding blackberry and raspberry purees to the fermenter. Sip it for yourself while you dance to beats from KEXP DJ Riz Rollins.

National Doughnut Day at Raised Doughnuts
At a pop-up in front of its soon-to-open brick-and-mortar location in the Central District, the forthcoming Central Doughnut shop will purvey pre-packaged half-dozen assortments of its yeasted creations, including raspberry holes, maple bars, apple fritters, ube coconut, basil blueberry, and mochi.

Negroni Week Launch Party
To kick off Negroni Week, Tom Douglas's pasta spot will present three different versions of the famous ruby-red aperitif along with paired snacks from chef Ron Anderson.

Stem: Science Uncorked
Explore the science behind your favorite fermented grape beverage at this after-hours museum field trip for adults, where you can sip as many samples as you can handle. Talk to reps from 14 Washington wineries, like DeLille Cellars and Three of Cups Winery, and learn all about their processes, from vine to glass. Besides, when else will you get a chance to traipse through the exhibits of the Science Center with a wine buzz on?

Vine & Spoon Grand Opening
The fresh, farm-to-table, New American restaurant in West Seattle will open for business with an opening night menu from executive chef Nicholas Apt, featuring "inspired new American ingredients from around the Pacific Northwest region." There will be a raw bar and over 100 locally produced wines and spirits to choose from.

Chef Fest: The Main Event
Witness six Washington chefs duke it out in a culinary battle (and sample their efforts) in this fundraiser for the Icicle Creek Center for the Arts, followed by desserts.

Customer Appreciation Party
To express their gratitude for their customers, Alki dive Tug inn will throw a bash with live music by 25 Cent Ride and The Tripp Rezac Band, raffle prizes and giveaways, drink specials, and free burgers and hot dogs with purchase of an alcoholic beverage.

The Flour Box Pop-Up
The very Instagrammable doughnut pop-up will sling its sought-after treats, in flavors like creme brûlée, everything bagel, haupia, mango lime, and strawberry basil shortcake, while supplies last.

FogRose Grand Opening
Liquid nitrogen ice cream boutique FogRose will celebrate its grand opening. Guests who post a picture at the event with the hashtag #fogrosebellevue will get a free ice cream on their next visit.

Le Grand Aïoli & Pink Wine Fair
Cool off with 24 pink wines from around the world, a Provençal-style spread of fresh, raw spring vegetables, salmon, cold shellfish, grilled meats, and crusty bread with garlicky aioli for dipping/slathering, and shaved ice for kids.

KEXP DJ Summer Series at Brewlab
Spend your summer Sundays grooving to tunes from KEXP DJs Abbie and Atticus while you sip a hazy grapefruit "Abbicus" IPA brewed just for the occasion.

Mo-Wet Hot Tub Boat Party
A hot tub boat is exactly what it sounds like: a boat filled with 400 gallons of steamy water. Sink in and cruise South Lake Union in luxury, then partake in food specials and drink specials on Moet and Chandon on White Swan Public House's patio to really cap off the extravagant vibes. A live DJ will provide music.

Tavolàta Foraged Feast
For the June edition of their monthly Sunday feast, Tavolàta will prepare a dinner focused on foraged fare.

Three Sacks Full Pop-Up
Driven by his curiosity to discover what a “real carrot” tasted like, chef Michael Tsai took a sabbatical to work on Green String Farm in California and eventually moved to the Snoqualmie River Valley’s Goose and Gander Farm, where he works now. He will bring that same farm-to-table sensibility to Three Sacks Full, his pop-up with sommelier and partner Matthew Curtis, who favors wine pairings from smaller producers and family-run wineries. Naturally, their menus are locally sourced, ever-changing, and hyper-seasonal. Dishes for April's dinner included black-eyed-pea dumplings; a mushroom, wild ramp, and fiddlehead fern ragout; and rhubarb and poppy-seed buckle cake with whipped cream, with Frankie & Jo's plant-based ice cream for dessert, and June's dinner promises to be just as seasonally inspired.

JUNE 4-10

Negroni Week
The refreshingly bitter, glowing-crimson aperitif, made with equal parts gin, Campari, and sweet vermouth and garnished with an orange peel, is so beloved, it now has its own week. Bars all over Seattle—including Outlier, Liberty, Bar del Corso, Babirusa, and Ba Bar—will be shaking up their own variations of the ruby-red cocktail to benefit charitable organizations, such as Arbor Day Foundation, Little Free Library, Northwest Immigrant Rights Project, PAWS, and Surfrider Foundation. If the concept of gulping Negronis to combat the world’s ills sounds too good to be true, you’re probably right: As Stranger food writer Angela Garbes wrote in 2016, “Started in 2013 by Campari and Imbibe magazine, Negroni Week is most definitely a marketing ploy benefitting a global corporation. Feel free to plot the overthrow of our corporate power regime as you throw back another Negroni.”

TUESDAY, JUNE 5

aMaurice Winemaker Dinner
The family-owned Walla Walla winery aMaurice will visit Renee Erickson's adorable Fremont small plates restaurant for a night of wine paired with the Whale Wins' signature wood-fired fare. Wine will be available by the taste, glass, or bottle, and there will be special to-go pricing for the night.
