Gold Bar Farewell Weekend

(Seattle, WA) After a nearly five-year run, South Lake Union's destination for cocktails, snacks and epic events with local cultural tastemakers will close after this weekend. Nestled among the forest of burgeoning new towers, the neighborhood responded to Gold Bar's merger of Mid-Century décor with a splash of gilded bling. With room to spread out in the adjacent atrium, Gold Bar held countless dance parties, artwork previews and popups in the last of the single-story buildings in Westlake's "auto row". Soon the building will meet the wrecking ball to give way to a new development. "We knew, really from the day that we opened, that we'd eventually have to leave this space," says Gold Bar's Zach Huntting. "We'll be able to host some smaller events at our Capitol Hill location, but it's a different neighborhood and vibe. We are hoping to return to South Lake Union again and find a new spot where we can host our larger parties and events." Gold Bar South Lake Union is located at 227 Ninth Avenue N., Seattle WA 98109. (One block north of Denny Park).

West African brunch by Tina Fahnbullet from 11am-3pm:"Red-red" black-eyed peas stew w/fried plantain, topped w/egg, avocado & farina-$16, Shrimp stew & creamy grits with shishito peppers-$20, Fried eggs with veggies on grilled baguette sandwich w/ mayo & grape jelly-$12, Side of egg-$2, Side of Bacon $4, Side of plantain- $7, Side of avocado slices- $2, Bloody Mary Bar, Bottomless Mimosas, Evoke Coffee Bar (a portion of alcohol sales during brunch will be donated to Tina's new restaurant fund)
