The new winter wonderland light display at Carpinito Brothers will make all your Instagram friends jealous. (Carpinito Brothers via Facebook)

Even if you don't normally deck your halls come December, you may be looking for a way to add some festive cheer to the space you've been spending so much time in lately. Luckily, there are plenty of places where you can find just what you need in Seattle, whether you want to make your own wreath, cut down a giant tree, or order a Christmas cactus online to add to your growing houseplant collection. Below, we've rounded up some accessible nurseries and Christmas tree lots in the city, as well as a few further-flung U-cut lots that still have trees available, plus places to get both DIY and professionally crafted wreaths.

CHRISTMAS TREE NURSERIES & GARDEN CENTERS

Carpinito Brothers
Browse thousands of green trees in Carpinito Brothers' outdoor lot, or head indoors to check out flocked, frosty-looking white Christmas trees, poinsettias, wreaths, and other holiday decor. Once you choose a tree, they'll help you tie it down to get it home—they even write, "Think your car's too small? Think again!" Bring the kids to say hello to Santa's reindeer and "7-month-old best friends" Newman and Ziggy (a camel and a zebra!), or bring your Instagram boyfriend to take pictures of you with their new winter wonderland light display.

City People's Garden Store
No appointments are necessary to browse the outdoor tree lot, where you'll find a variety of Noble, Nordmann, and Fraser firs—but they advise you to bundle up in case you have to wait outside. (If you need fortifications, head to the neighborhood early for brunch beforehand on Cafe Flora List 's heated patio, which is conveniently on the same block.) You can also pick up garland, wreaths, and lots of other holiday decorations, some of which are available inside. Delivery is also available on weekdays.

Magnolia Garden Center
This garden store's selection of Washington-grown Noble, Fraser, and Nordmann fir trees is accessible two ways this year: You can make an appointment to shop in person, or order a specific size online to be delivered (for free, if you live in Magnolia). They also have a gift shop with products like candles and puzzles.

Molbak's Garden + Home
The giant poinsettia tree is the star attraction at Molbak's: It's as tall as a Christmas tree and apparently a 36-year-running tradition to take your holiday card photo in front of it. Life-size Santa cutouts are also available for your selfie needs, in place of their typical real-life Santa. Plus, shop fresh trees and wreaths, fake (excuse us, "forever") trees, Christmas cacti, ornaments, and more. Reservations are recommended for shopping in person, or you can shop online for curbside pickup.

Swansons Nursery
If you're looking to fill your home (and garden, if you've got one) with the aroma of freshly cut Christmas trees and seasonal native foliage, make an appointment to shop at this Ballard plant haven, which is all decked out in pretty holiday lights and even has a model train village. In addition to holiday ornaments and evergreen wreaths, they tout their "Spin and Pick" system (in which hand-selected trees suspended off the ground and "ready for a spin by the pickiest purveyor"), and they'll continue to offer the popular, specially grown "Burton Blue" Noble fir. You can also shop for wreaths and other holiday decor and pick it up in person the next day.

Crown Hill

Sky Nursery
Get inspired by the nursery's 31 (!) decorated display trees—which are themed around everything from camping to vegetables—then choose your own to take home from their selection of Noble, Nordmann, and Fraser firs. For smaller spaces, they recommend their potted spruce trees or rosemary topiaries, or you can stick to wreaths and poinsettias. They also have decor for both indoor and outdoor settings.

West Seattle Nursery
In addition to a selection of Noble, Douglas, Fraser, and Natural Douglas firs (which are available online and in-person), this nursery also has reservable wreath-making tables, for which you can bring your own materials or purchase some of theirs.

North Bend

Long's Christmas Trees
As of December 3, one of the two lots of trees at this 20-acre farm are sold out, but they'll be open December 5-6 for one final weekend. If you get there early enough, you may even be able to sit around the fire with your family.
Snohomish

McMurtrey's Red-Wood Christmas Tree Farm
The U-cut field is closed at this family farm this year (which seems to be unrelated to COVID, but "so we can be sustainable with a crop of trees for future years"), but you can still choose from one of their fresh-cut Noble, Douglas, Fraser, or Nordman fir trees. They'll also have complimentary hot chocolate and cider to keep you warm while you browse. No reservations are required, but on weekdays, you can also make wagon ride appointments.
Redmond

Mountain Creek Christmas Tree Farm
Appointments are required to hunt for your perfect fir tree (as well as wreaths) at this U-cut farm at the base of Mount Si, which will be open through December 11, or until they're sold out.

Wreaths and poinsettias are also available. In addition to the school, a portion of proceeds from this lot is shared with the Salvation Army and the West Seattle Food Bank.

WREATHS & WREATH KITS

Bainbridge Gardens
Want to make your own wreath, but don't have space at home? Reserve a spot to use one of the nursery's 16 do-it-yourself wreath-making machines—there's no charge, as long as you purchase a wreath ring on site. They also sell greens, ribbon, pinecones, and other holiday decor, or you can bring your own. Not crafty? They also offer custom, professionally crafted wreaths, as well as holiday lighting, ornaments, and more.

Ballard Farmers Market Remind List
Typically a good spot for beautiful floral bouquets, the Ballard market also has fall and winter wreaths at this time of year. Order online by noon on Fridays to pick up on Sundays at the market, or stop by in person.
Ballard

The London Plane Past Event List
The Pioneer Square cafe and flower shop will host a livestreamed wreath-making class on December 11 with florists Honnah Weber and Katherine Anderson. Order a kit online in advance, then wait for the appointed day, when they'll deliver all the materials you need for the wreath (minus pruners or shears, which you'll need to have on hand) as well as wine and snacks.

The Pantry Past Event List
"Wild winter wreaths" are the subject of the Ballard cooking school's December 12 livestreamed class with Renée Beaudoin, which will teach you to weave a wreath with foliage foraged from your own backyard. You'll also learn about the meaning of traditional wreaths and how to make an evergreen swag. Supply kits with wire and a wreath frame are available for purchase, or you can source your own from their shopping list.

Pike Place Market List
The historic farmers market won't have Christmas trees for purchase this year, but many market vendors are selling holiday wreaths.

Sound Excursions
Past Event List Need some liquid courage before you DIY? This kit comes with a bourbon tasting class video and cheese and chocolate pairings so you can create your own at-home tasting experience—you'll just have to buy your own bottle (they suggest Woodford Reserve). They'll also send you Noble fir greenery, pine cones, floral wire, and everything else you need to make a beautiful wreath, including an on-demand video tutorial that you can watch whenever (and however many times) you want. Kits are available to ship on December 4 and 8.

Volunteer Park Conservatory
For a different kind of holiday wreath, order one of the VPC's air plant wreath DIY kits for pickup—it comes with tillandsias from their own collection. You can also opt for a traditional wreath kit, which comes with evergreen greenery (evergreenery?) and pine cones, as well as the wreath base and wire.

The Works
Choose from minimalist (blue velvet and twine), grapevine (cinnamon sticks and dried oranges), or traditional (pinecones and red ribbon) styles when you order one of the wreath kits from this DIY hub. They'll also include "Kiya's famous hot cocoa mix" to make your wreath-making session extra cozy.
