The following description comes from the event organizer.

ArtX Contemporary is proud to present a new collection of paintings by Indigenous Australian artists. From Sand to Stars shares stories from the far Western Desert to the central heart of this spectacular continent. These dynamic paintings employ visual languages that have developed over centuries; what may appear abstract is rich with symbols and narratives that honor the artists’ land, ancestors, and culture.

From weather patterns on the sand below to ancestral stories that live in the stars above, this exhibition explores some of the enduring themes that have been depicted by Indigenous Australian artists. By painting their Country and Dreaming stories, these artists continue to assert their connection to ancestral lands and preserve knowledge that has been passed down, person to person, for thousands of years.

This group exhibition features works by internationally renowned senior artists, like Gloria Petyarre and Abie Loy Kemarre, established mid-career artists like Elizabeth Kunoth Kngwarreye and Jeannie Mills Pwerle, as well as emerging artists.
