The following description comes from the event organizer.

Seattle-based singer-songwriter, Luke Francis, navigates the emotional landscape with the finesse of a seasoned storyteller. Born and raised in the suburbs of San Francisco, Francis relocated to Washington at 19 years old and was quickly enchanted by the lush sounds and rich heritage of Pacific Northwest indie folk. In 2019 an invitation to play the Nowhere Else Festival in Cincinnati, OH landed him onstage with Americana greats such as John Paul White (The Civil Wars) and Allison Russell. Shortly thereafter Francis joined Americana band Fretland, and spent the following years playing and recording with them, living nomadically wherever allowed him to continue honing his songwriting craft – a tent on the Skykomish river, an 1800s log cabin, the spare bedrooms of benevolent lawyers. When Fretland’s touring schedule ground to a halt with the onset of the pandemic, the hiatus provided a silver lining, prompting Francis to begin work on the songs which would comprise a soul-searching solo project.

Lightweight Champion exact alt-country with an air of orderliness...The melodies are simple but compelling, the rhythm section is tight, and Gabriel Delayne’s versatile piano keys makes for a formidable secret weapon […] Lyrics pair surreal, circuitous metaphorical imagery with plainspoken wills and wishes, the type of writing that’s become a staple of alt-country.”  Members are Aaron Spieldenner, Gabriel Delayne, Cam Hancock (of The Whags, Coral Grief) and Tom Moskal (of Coach Phillips, High Romantics).

Lilly Miller is a Seattle-based musician who has spent the last year working on her first EP, entitled The Fool. Influenced by Joni Mitchell and the melodic tones of Nick Drake, her songs are known for their tenderness and deep feelings.
