Curated in collaboration with University of Washington students, Beyond the Mountain: Contemporary Chinese Artists on The Classical Forms takes a close look at the impact of globalization, migration, and modernity on social culture. Contemporary artists like powerhouse creator Zhang Huan find thoughtful forms of resistance through references to China’s material, visual, and linguistic heritage.
