Catalyzing Change with Akuyea Karen VargasCommunity leader and social justice advocate Akuyea Karen Vargas’ life and work reveal a desire to understand identity through historical research, cultivating belonging and travel. Come hear her talk about the diverse definitions of home and unity she’s found, and ways that her personal journey may have meaning for our world.

Akuyea Karen Vargas has been a champion for social justice advocacy in Kitsap County for many years. Her work in trauma-informed care, social/emotional, cultural and racial literacy fosters deep conversations within the education system and beyond. She brings a deep commitment to and investment in history, genealogy, art and culture the ways they offer bridges to a collaborative and inclusive world.
